Welcome to your weekend!
It’s Fab Five Friday when you get to see five of my favorite things this week. Enjoy!
Good Deeds: Water is important. Very important. You would think that’s easily understood, yet we tend to waste water in our homes and pollute water in the environment. Here’s a newsflash. Water is not an abundant never ending resource, and it’s essential to all life on Earth. Bottled Water companies are buying up the dwindling resources of fresh water, and harming local economies and environments in the process. I was excited to learn a teenager in Canada has been fighting to keep water safe and protected from corporate domination. She watched one of my favorite essential documentaries, Blue Gold: World Water Wars, and took action. Meet the incredible Robyn Hamlyn. I hope she inspires many more to get involved.
Insight: Depression is an issue that claims lives. It’s a sad reality that our society still turns a blind eye towards the problem, and at worse even bullies those who need help. This has go to stop. I’ve known people who committed suicide. I have friends who live with the challenge of depression. I have my own ups and downs. I assure you that someone in your life is going through similar battles. Author Tim Ferriss recently posted a heartfelt message to his enormous audience. His post gives insight into one of the problems of depression. Labels. It’s true that you can dissolve many emotions simply by giving them a label. Tim’s ideas may not be the absolute answer to stop depression. It’s a tool that belongs in your toolbox. Give this a read now. Not later.
Let There Be Light!: Hip Hop artist Akon is making a huge difference in Africa. He’s been on a mission to bring solar powered electricity to over 600 million in Africa. He’s done this without a lot of media attention. He’s done this without seeking praise. This man is doing great work in the world. We should all support his efforts, and applaud him for taking action. Read the awesome story.
Awareness: This week saw the Discovery Chanel giving the film Racing Extinction a massive audience. This documentary might be the most important film in our time. We are living in a legit recognized extinction period. Many species we know, and many you’ve never seen, are going to be extinct in the next few years. We could see the disappearance of sharks, wolves, tigers, snow leopards, and many more in the next decade. We live in a time where we might be able to make a difference. I’m willing to give it a chance. Please find a way to watch this film. It could save some lives and entire species.
Tarot News!: Time to lighten the mood. The long awaited Tarot project from the wonderful duo Erik Dunne and Kim Huggens is finally available for pre-order on Amazon! You can see many of the cards already completed on their Facebook page. This deck explores the realms of mythology with Erik’s amazing talent, and Kim has written a companion book that explodes with wisdom! I’m eager to add Tarot Apokalypsis to my collection!
